Luckily for us, Liborio Lungaro was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of The 3-0: Based on a True Story of the Largest Police Corruption Scandal in New York City’s History – The Dirty Thirty.

OP: Tell us a little bit about The 3-0: Based on a True Story of the Largest Police Corruption Scandal in New York City’s History – The Dirty Thirty. What is it about?

Liborio: This book is based on actual events of the 30th Precinct in the New York City Police Department in the early 1990s, the West Harlem station was tagged by the press as “The Dirty Thirty,” where rogue cops ran rampant in the streets. This book reveals how the police and the city politicians handle the moral issues of corruption, crime and city politics, and how those in power managed their biggest fears; damaging their reputations and losing their power base. But the story of the “Dirty Thirty” is not just about police corruption. It’s the story of bringing a community together during such trying times, working together to gain trust with each other and eventually bringing crime down over seventy percent. It’s the role of law enforcement to protect and serve. It truly is the story of the good guys going after the bad guys – of how officers react to investigating their own, discovering corruption among their own, and arresting their own – in the biggest, most diverse city in the country. Ultimately, it is the story of a political time bomb that no one wanted to touch.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

Liborio: I decided to write, The 3-0, due to current events. To tell the actually story through my eyes, what’s it’s like to be a good guy, a good cop and deal with the enormous amount of pressure, stress and political pressure. I also wanted the story of, “The 3-0, The Dirty Thirty,” to be told. That Community Policing can work because it worked at the 30th precinct during the toughest of times. That good cops will not tolerate bad cops. It’s a story of Good versus Evil.

OP: How did you get your book published?

Liborio: I weighed the differences between a publisher and self-publishing. I didn’t want to wait two years for a publisher and to be honest I felt my book had the legs to be self-promoted today, especially with social media and my background. I went through Outskirts Press Publishing. I checked out reviews of self-publishing companies and I felt Outskirts Press was the best suited for what I was looking for.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

Liborio: Fans of: True Crime, Non-Fiction, Autobiography/Memoirs, Police Corruption and Misconduct, Community Policing and Political Corruption and Misconduct.

OP: What is special about your book?

Liborio: It’s a story that’s never been told before and it’s through my eyes.

OP: What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

Liborio: It’s different because it’s based on a true story about my accounts in the 30th precinct. It shows for the first time what a good honest cop goes through and how they respond to corruption amongst their own.

OP: Have you published any other books?

Liborio: This is my first published book.

OP: Do you plan to publish more?

Liborio: Yes! I’ve started working on these up and coming titles: The Quakers Passage to Freedom – Based on True Events of how the Quakers helped with, The Underground Railroad, Drag Bunt – Based on True Events about Corruption and Backdoor Politics’ in Little League Baseball, New York City’s T.N.T. (Tactical Narcotics Team) – Based on True Events of NYC’s Drug Wars, ADONIS – How four Retired NYC’s Detectives went against the system and help freed a young African American, from Murder charges. They never accepted money for their investigation.

OP: Thanks for your time, Liborio! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!

Luckily for us, Godfred was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Think Beyond The Cause.

OP: Tell us a little bit about Think Beyond The Cause. What is it about?

Godfred: How Evil spirits affect humans.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

Godfred: My life is a good example of a life frustrated, if not destroyed in many aspects by witchcraft or obstructive spiritual activity. To anyone being told this or listening, this claim will appear laughable and hardly believable. The book explains and shows how possible, real and ongoing, the role of evil spirits is present and responsible for many of humanity’s problems.

OP: How did you get your book published?

Godfred: By doing some research, identifying Outskirts Press, and contacting them for the publication.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

Godfred: Everyone who is literate will find this book interesting to read and will learn a lot about a much neglected and unsuspecting origin of many problems, and their solutions.

OP: What is special about your book?

Godfred: It opens a window into an invisible world or spiritual realm and makes it possibly visible.

OP: What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

Godfred: This is an account of a lived experience, not learned academic knowledge or summarized facts. The book introduces something important that has been erroneously ignored.

OP: Have you published any other books?

Godfred: No, this is my first book.

OP: Do you plan to publish more?

Godfred: Yes.

OP: Thanks for your time, Godfred! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!

The Winds of Malibu: An Unexplainable Memoir by Jeff Lucas

Technology has created a wide variety of ways to reach audiences all over the world. It takes is a little thinking outside the box and you can market a self-published book in creative, affordable and impactful ways. Consider book tours! Tours are a great way to connect with your readers and technology has made them easier and more cost effective than ever!

Author Jeff Lucas is taking his latest book The Winds of Malibu: An Unexplainable Memoir, on tour — a Virtual Book Tour with Outskirts Press. This will allow Jeff to take his book into the far corners of the globe, all from the comfort of his own home! Keep an eye out for Jeff’s book as he will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead!

Luckily for us, Jeff was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of The Winds of Malibu: An Unexplainable Memoir.

OP: Tell us a little bit about The Winds of Malibu: An Unexplainable Memoir. What is it about?

Jeff: The Winds of Malibu focuses on my teenage years in the 1970s in Malibu. In the 1970s there were outrageous movies being made in abundance, and under the circumstances, I turned the style and the feeling of this book into an outrageous 1970s film because that is how it felt to live there growing up. Everything was on the edge for no real reason at all other than all the personalities involved.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

Jeff: The Winds of Malibu was automatic writing on one hand and on the other hand it took decades to complete. I knew I had to finish and publish this eventually. It hung on me for over thirty years. I am grateful that I lived long enough to finish it and publish it. The main challenge was I did not want to face that time that closely, and yet I had to.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

Jeff: People who like to read the realist writers should be interested in my book. Those interested in Louis Ferdinand Celine, John Fante, and Arthur Rimbaud. In other words, the writers who lived it in order to say it. The Winds of Malibu is really an excellent addition, I think, to learning about the feel of life in the 1970s among youth.

OP: What is special about your book?

Jeff: For a childhood memoir I have more genuine diary entries perhaps than any other childhood memoir. I have asked the Guinness Book Of World records to check on that.

OP: What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

Jeff: Like This Boy’s Life and Running With Scissors? I have got better subject matter.

OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?

Jeff: This might be my To Kill A Mockingbird. No other area of my life had the same intensity. I have got some ideas that I have thought about. There was my first four years in Malibu before I was eleven. After 1984 though, I lived a Blue-Collar life and Charles Bukowski already did a better job of writing about that than I could. I have got a screenplay I sketched out in the 1980s about my Blue-Collar world at the ice company. Maybe I will finish it.

OP: How can someone learn more about your book or purchase it?

Jeff: The Winds of Malibu is available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, and Outskirts Press.

OP: Thanks for your time, Jeff! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!

Reinvented by Bernice Schaefer

Technology has created a wide variety of ways to reach audiences all over the world. It takes is a little thinking outside the box and you can market a self-published book in creative, affordable and impactful ways. Consider book tours! Tours are a great way to connect with your readers and technology has made them easier and more cost effective than ever!

Author Bernice Schaefer is taking her latest book Reinvented, on tour — a Virtual Book Tour with Outskirts Press. This will allow Bernice to take her book into the far corners of the globe, all from the comfort of her own home! Keep an eye out for Bernice’s book as she will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead!

Luckily for us, Bernice was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Reinvented.

OP: Tell us a little bit about Reinvented. What is it about?

Bernice: This is a memoir that follows my journey from childhood to a respected psychologist and marriage/family therapist. The chapters in Reinvented depict powerful chapters of my life: my New York City childhood, marrying and reluctantly moving to Connecticut, opening a drama school, becoming a counseling psychologist, losing my husband, finding and losing another love, and so much more. This book shows my frailties, vulnerabilities, uncertainties, but more importantly my strength and resilience.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

Bernice: I wanted to leave a legacy for my family, and after finishing the book, I realized other people might enjoy the story. I published this book because while my journey is unique to my life, these events are relatable to so many other people.

OP: How did you get your book published?

Bernice: I decided to self-publish. At my age, I didn’t want to wait to find an agent who would in turn find a publisher. I thought this would be much more expedient.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

Bernice: People who are curious about other people and the world.

OP: What is special about your book?

Bernice: I wrote it to leave a legacy for my family and friends and commemorate valuable slices of my life. Reinvented portrays a lifetime of struggle, love, and gratitude.

OP: Have you published any other books?

Bernice: In 2014, I published All That And So Much More through Author House Publishing. Some chapters in that memoir now compliment new chapters and themes in Reinvented.

OP: Do you plan to publish more?

Bernice: Perhaps. I am currently writing a book of essays with three other women.

OP: Thanks for your time, Bernice! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!

Stegomyia: The Story of My Life

There’s No Shortcut to the American Dream

Growing up in a small village in Nigeria, William Adeniyi knew that his opportunities in life would be limited unless he was relentless in his pursuit of education. The death of his father left William, his sister, and their mother in financial straits. Despite that, William’s mother was dedicated to her children’s schooling…until she too died, leaving William an orphan at a crucial juncture of his life. Stegomyia is the story of how William overcame seemingly insurmountable personal and financial challenges to graduate from Titcombe College, the prestigious high school run by Canadians and Americans of the Sudan Interior Mission, and his subsequent academic career in America as a student and then as a professor at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. From the perils of Nigeria’s political bloodbath to the frustrations of immigration to America, from bullies in elementary school to racist colleagues in the US, from despair when everything was taken from him to dawning hope thanks to helping hands from people who believed in William’s future, this memoir is a compelling chronicle of a life lived in defiance of the odds. A clear-eyed, honest assessment of what it means to embrace the American Dream, Stegomyia is both inspirational and cautionary, an epic true story of determination and hard work.
