At Outskirts Press, Inc., we take great pride in celebrating the work of our successful self-publishing authors, and we do so each week through our Self-Publishing Author Spotlight. This week we highlight self-publishing author Martha Gabour Manuel, who has published three successful titles with Outskirts Press.

Learn more about Martha, her political background along with her life experiences and how they translate into her successful published works through this week’s Self-Publishing Author Spotlight.

authorAbout the Author:

Martha retired from state civil service in 2007 to run for state senator. While unsuccessful in her bid for office, the experience offered her an opportunity to view the electoral process firsthand. Martha’s eminence as a registered representative with a major Wall Street investment firm; director of the EBR Parish Health Unit; and executive director of the Governor’s Office of Elderly Affairs only highlight a few of the varied and coveted positions she has held, adding an unusual degree of credibility to her stories.

A Louisiana native, residing in Ventress, 32 miles from the state’s capitol of Baton Rouge, Martha’s strong ties to Louisiana are what inspire her writings. Martha invites readers to experience Louisiana’s beauty, mystery, dubious politics, and enduring characters, through the eyes of her characters.

While her race for political office had uncovered a web of scandals and lies, it paled in comparison to the darker secrets surrounding her husband Michael. If she could speak again, would it be too late? “Murder on False River delivers suspense, romance, and danger in a gripping page-turner.” —Christee Atwood, Author In Celebration of Elastic Waistbands “You’ll be on the edge of your seat until the very last page!” —Erica M. cover (2)Underwriting is Murder

Margie grabbed the police chief’s arm as he was taking aim; instinctively he swung around. There was a loud explosion as the gun went off. The illustrious Dr. Marguerite Hinckley’s body plummeted to the floor. Henry dropped to his knees beside her and began crying out, “Oh my God, what have I done?” In shock and disbelief, Mel watched from her vantage point outside the window. An extra surge of adrenaline shot through her body, reminding the relatively new private investigator she had to quickly distance herself from the unimaginable scene just witnessed. Mel had been hired to follow Margie by her husband, Seth, in order to find out if his wife was having an affair. Little did she know that the horror viewed scarcely minutes earlier was only a preview of what was to come, as she is thrown into the middle of what may be the strangest and most bizarre murder investigation she will likely ever know.
