Self-Published Authors Now Get More Bang for Their Book Marketing Buck with Four Improved Promotional Services Offered By Outskirts Press

In its continuing effort to further support self-published authors, leading self-publishing and book marketing company Outskirts Press has increased the value of 4 different book marketing services for its authors – without increasing the costs — by adding professional marketing consultations, new social networking channels, and more.

January 26, 2010 – Denver, CO – Outskirts Press, an Inc. 500 company and the fastest growing self-publishing and book marketing company, today announced it has greatly improved four of its popular book marketing services for its growing family of self-published authors.  The CD Media Kit, Enhanced Audio Excerpt, Book Video, and Amazon Kindle Edition options by have each been expanded to bring more benefits without additional cost.

Recognizing the value and necessity of live, 1-on-1 marketing consultation, Outskirts Press has also added the 30-minute marketing call to the Enhanced Audio Excerpt option at no additional cost. The Enhanced Audio Excerpt offers a two to three minute audio recording of a section of an author’s book, recorded by book marketing guru and Blog Talk Radio host Sally Shields.  Not only is this option ideal for authors who may not like the sound of their own voice, but the Enhanced Audio Excerpt is distributed and syndicated just like a Podcast, which includes availability on multiple content sites, including iTunes.

The CD Media Kit already offered by Outskirts Press includes a customized CD-ROM that authors can use to promote their book.  Included on the CD are a professionally written press release, an author biography and book summary, a marketing plan and promotional calendar, an author image, and a secure e-book edition of the book.  Now each CD Media Kit option includes a valuable thirty minute phone consultation with an Outskirts Press Personal Marketing Assistant, to help the author develop their marketing plan and promotional calendar to be included in the CD-ROM.

“After their marketing consultation, now our authors can hit the ground running with a full understanding of how to use their CD Media Kit and/or Enhanced Audio Excerpt to support the successful marketing of their book,” stated Outskirts Press Director of Author Support, Kelly Schuknecht.

The Book Video Trailer option offered by Outskirts Press has also been improved with no additional charge to the author to feature a newer, cutting-edge style, and now includes social networked links through Facebook and Twitter.  Outskirts Press Book Video Trailers are approximately one minute in length, professionally produced like a Hollywood movie trailer, and are embedded on the author’s own Outskirts Press webpage as well as distributed to YouTube, Metacafe, MySpace and a host of other online video outlets.

Outskirts Press books can now be available on the iPhone, thanks to the free Kindle application for the iPhone, currently one of the hottest apps on iTunes.  With the Outskirts Press Amazon Kindle Edition option, Outskirt Press is able to take advantage of Amazon’s own increased promotional services so that Outskirt Press books with Amazon Kindle editions are now available on the iPhone and iPod Touch as well as through Amazon’s regular on-line store. This announcement also comes with an improvement in the formatting and conversion processes conducted on Outskirts Press books to ensure their Kindle editions are among the best in the business.

What do Oprah Winfrey, Outskirts Press, and Self-Publishing Authors Have in Common?

self publishing with the kindleThey all love the Amazon Kindle! On Friday, October 24th Oprah Winfrey declared on her show that the Amazon Kindle was her new favorite gadget, and went on to say it would change everything.

Revolutionize, really.  According to the Association of American Publishers, the sale of e-books has grown nearly 56% since 2002. The Kindle, which was announced with much fanfare in 2007, is an integral part of this trend. Unlike previous iterations of “ebook readers,” the Amazon Kindle is easy to operate, comfortable to use, and has many attractive consumer options.

Authors recognize the benefits and the potential of the Kindle, too. “Oprah’s endorsement of the Kindle is going to send sales of the device skyrocketing,” stated Outskirts Press CEO Brent Sampson. “Always on the cutting-edge of the industry, Outskirts Press is excited to introduce our Amazon Kindle Submission Service, which helps our published authors get their ebooks available on the Kindle in time to reap the benefits from this buzz.”

This new marketing option for Outskirts Press authors makes it remarkably easy for authors to present their work in digital format, which customers can then download to the Kindle, Amazon’s popular electronic reading device. The Amazon Kindle edition then appears in Amazon’s search results (along with any other formats such as paperback or hardback editions), resulting in increased exposure of the book’s cover. This brings the book browser that much closer to becoming a book buyer.

Amazon Kindle Submission

The Amazon Kindle is America’s revolutionary wireless reading device.  It allows its owners to instantly download books and newspapers, but only books that have been submitted to the Amazon Kindle via the required process and in the required format are available for Kindle readers to purchase and enjoy. Kindle editions of books appear on Amazon.com (and now Amazon.co.uk) in search listings just like any other format (such as a hardback edition).

There are several benefits to having your book available in a Kindle Edition.

1. The Amazon Kindle edition will appear as another option to buy on your book’s sales page, which increases the chances of browsers becoming buyers.

2. Sales through the Amazon Kindle are not split with Outskirts Press. Amazon will take their share, as they always do, but your profit will be directly deposited into your checking account by Amazon, without any involvement by (or portion for) Outskirts Press. In other words, your Kindle sales are YOUR Kindle sales.

3. As Amazon is expanding the availability of Kindle editions (offering free Kindle apps for iPhone, Blackberry and Android users as well as PC and Mac users, and now the availability through Amazon.com.uk), Amazon customers and readers are growing every day.  While the Kindle is a unique and revolutionary device designed to make reading more convenient, the majority of Amazon customers love actual BOOKS. A Kindle sale is an inexpensive way to offer your book to a potential reader; if they like it, they are more likely to purchase the paperback or hardback edition, too.

HOW TO ORDER THE AMAZON KINDLE SUBMISSION SERVICE

It’s easy! Regardless of whether you are self publishing with Outskirts Press or not, you can conveniently and securely get an Kindle edition for your book by clicking the big green button.  We take care of everything for you! It could not be simpler.
