4 Ways to Use Your E-book as a Marketing Tool

As an author, you have all of the advantages of digital publications at your fingertips–meaning that your book can be instantly downloadable as well as inexpensive to purchase. But once you have an e-book edition, how do you turn these valuable selling points into targeted and efficient self-promotion? Now you can get all the benefits of an e-book with the Elite E-book Package. For a limited time, get 10% off this beneficial package with the promo code: ELITESEPT14. Here are four ways in which you can get started.

  1. Contact new readers directly. One of the best features of an e-book is its
“shareability.” Most eBook platforms, including Amazon’s Kindle store and Apple’s iBook store, include a whole host of sharing options to get authors started in contacting new readers directly from the book’s online listing. The more places your e-book is offered for sale, the more information you can provide your readers. Consider emailing your friends, family, and other contacts with publication announcements, promotional events, and discounts!
  2. Connect the dots to social media. Just as you can contact new readers directly from your e-book’s online listings, you can share your e-book across all social media platforms. Make sure that your followers on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Goodreads, Shelfari, and other social media platforms know about your book’s publication as an e-book, and provide them with easy access to its online listing(s) by providing links with every update. The more interconnected your social media platforms are, and the more often you update them, the easier it will be for readers to connect the dots all the way back to your book.
  3. Make sure it stands out. The e-book market is rapidly growing, and one of the side effects of this growth is that it’s becoming more difficult to sift through all of the e-books available in order to find the really good ones. Make sure your e-book has an edge over its competitors by curating its online presence carefully, especially its sales listings. Set up a blog where you can post making-of or behind-the-scenes updates and special content to generate buzz around your book. Do what it takes to make sure your book is both easy to find and memorable. The fact that your book is available for instant download across a variety of e-reading platforms is an instant selling point, so make it a feature of your campaign!
  4. Seek and generate reviews. Reviews are one of the most important ways in which you can create interest around your e-book, and because e-books are available for fast and easy distribution online, you can send free copies to potential reviewers–instantaneously. Also, other self-published and e-book authors will love you if you return the favor by offering to review their e-books. The e-book provides an excellent opportunity to expand your network of contacts–and the more contacts you develop, the more people will share and re-share your book, and the more new readers you will attract.

If you haven’t yet introduced your book into the electronic reading device world, now may be the right time to do so. Given the advantages that e-books offer to new readers, utilize these advantages to publish your book across a variety of e-reading platforms, including the Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, and Apple iPad.
