2014 Outskirts Press EVVY Award Finalists Announced

The EVVY Awards are widely acclaimed for recognizing excellence in independently published books. Offered every year, these awards are sponsored by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA), and judged by a panel of professionals on a qualitative scale of merit in nineteen different categories.

Each year, Outskirts Press officially nominates a small percentage of the books published during the year for submission to the EVVY Awards. Since a nomination is the first step toward receiving the Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year Award, the standards are exceedingly high; we nominated fewer than 5% of the books we published in 2014. These nominations represent the very best of our publications as determined by Outskirts Press executives and members of the production teams.

Outskirts Press official nominees and winners receive additional exposure of their books in featured Outskirts Press marketing channels, including our blog, social media networks, and in our email newsletters. The winners are announced during an awards ceremony hosted by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association on August 22, 2015.

Congratulations to this year’s Official Outskirts Press 21st Annual EVVY Award nominees, presented alphabetically below:

As a result of being nominated for the 21st Annual EVVY Awards, these Outskirts Press authors have taken the first step toward winning the coveted Outskirts Press Best Book of the Year Award. Three of the nominees above who subsequently win an EVVY Award during the CIPA banquet this coming August will be selected as Semi-Finalists for our annual Best Book of the Year Award and its $1,500 Grand Prize. Stay tuned.

Mishmah Al Aziz is a retired mathematics educator, administrator, consultant, and writing instructor. He was an editor of the metaphysical handbook L ‘ Initiation and also served as managing editor of Ariadne’s Web. Although The Philosopher’s Tears is his first book of poetry to be published, Mishmah has been writing poems since his preteen years.

The Philosopher’s Tears is an assemblage of love poems of the heart, mind, and spirit. These poems explore reflections, inward journeys, gratitude, and the meaning and impact of love relationships at different life stages-elucidating nuggets of wisdom which help us to transform, to evolve, to live and to love the life we were intended to live. With themes of friendship, love, and faith, The Philosopher’s Tears is a lively collection of lighthearted yet inspirational poetry that will resonate with your spirit and awaken you to the possibilities of joy.
