Self-Publishing Book Spotlight: How Emotionally Damaged Are We? by Dr. John O’Brien

Outskirts Press is constantly helping creators realize their greatest writing ambitions. Self-publishing a book is a huge task, so pardon us while we sing the praises of our independent authors in our weekly Self-Publishing Book Spotlight.

This week we’re proud to feature another of our self-published authors, Dr. John O’Brien, and his self-help book, How Emotionally Damaged Are We? Discover the Thinkiatry Principles and Learn the Self-help Principals, Process , and Path to Healthier Psychological Functioning and Happiness Each Day.

The result of the author’s own over 30-year quest for healthy psychological functioning and personal happiness, O’Brien’s five self-help principles of Thinkiatry® help individuals uncover the vibrant native happiness and healthy psychological functioning that for most has been buried under years of chronic negative thinking.

Dr. O’Brien has been a student of the human emotional condition for more than three decades. After carefully examining the behavior and relationships of others and recognizing that so many people were often cranky, unhappy and sometimes even miserable, he discovered that most people are actually the victims of their own habitual “thought systems.” These uniquely individual habitual thought systems allow negative thoughts and opinions to control a person’s thinking, and hence his or her emotional health and happiness.

By overcoming these self-defeating thoughts, feelings and moods, one can virtually eliminate all emotional distress and live a happier life each day.

The first four simple principles of O’Brien’s Thinkiatry® help one recognize those negative thought systems and the process to overcome them. Without continual negative thinking swirling through one’s mind, one can return to one’s natural, emotionally buoyant state. One can be happy, and joyfully live life in the present moment most of the time.

Part II of Dr. O’Brien’s book shows readers how to apply the principles of Thinkiatry® to some of life’s most common emotional challenges: depression, obesity, addictions, anger, stress, problem solving, relationships, marriage and happiness. Problems in each of these areas, O’Brien points out, almost always stem from these negative habitual thought systems, and by following the steps in his book, anyone can uncover the original happiness and contentment, for most not experienced since early childhood, now hidden within their habitual thinking process.
