Self-Publishing Book Spotlight: We’ve Never Had a King by: Brad & Mary Bradbury

Self publishing a book is an exciting undertaking. Because we understand the dedication that is required to write a quality book, we like to feature our top authors each week so that you can get to know a little bit more about them and their book. This week, we are featuring Brad & Mary Bradbury’s We’ve Never Had a King.

In their latest book, self-publishing Outskirts Press authors, Brad & Mary Bradbury’s personable writing style will immediately endear readers to this charming couple, their experiences, and the many interesting acquaintances they met along the way. Their unique writing style also lends itself to a definite ease of reading by allowing the reader to glide from one anecdote to another without wading through copious text to uncover the subject.

After a candid and witty assessment of their courtship and marriage, Brad continues his interesting anecdotal series of quips about their adventures in the Kingdom of Iraq. After a few months, it became evident that the “natives were restless!” A combination of frustrations was permeating the atmosphere, resulting in a general unrest of the populace and the military. The Iraqis were suffering from unemployment, low salaries, poor living conditions, corruption, lack of oil revenue sharing, and their intolerable existence under a royal regime, force-fed to them by the British. These straws of contention could ultimately break the back of the Iraqi camel.

We’ve Never Had a King is a treat and the captivating behavior of both Brad and his delightful wife bring insights and joy to readers in a narrative far more enjoyable than the run-of-the-mill memoir.

Brad, born during the Roaring Twenties in Fort Worth, Texas, was greeted with open arms by The Great Depression and World War II. He attended Texas A&M, served in Naval Aviation and worked at Phillips Petroleum Company’s Kansas City refinery before transferring to Iraq. Mary and Brad married in 1951 and spent a wonderful fifty years together before Mary’s passing.
