Outskirts Press is proud of the many self-published authors who’ve produced thousands of high-quality books with the help of our talented self-publishing and marketing experts. Over the years, these authors have racked up a number of accomplishments, awards, author benchmarks and recognitions that serve as a testament to the quality of their — and our — work.
In recognition of the talent of our authors, we like to showcase a different author in our regular Self-Publishing Author Spotlight. This time around, we’re giving a nod to self-help author David O’Conner, who has published three books through Outskirts Press: Getting to A GOOD PLACE, Don’t Give Away Your Power and Weeds, We expect even more great things in the future from this accomplished non-fiction author.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
David O’Conner is an experienced speaker, business owner, author and family man, who writes “airplane books.” These 100- to 150-page books can be read in a couple of hours. He has wrapped his brand of Southern humor around messages that address increasing personal productivity and reducing stress — O’talks. These O’talks are used in his speeches, workshops and one-on-one coaching. They accomplish David’s desire to deliver material that conveys a positive, instructive and retainable message, while equipping the reader/audience with the tools to overcome their challenges with confidence and independence.
Do you ever feel like the world is asking about taxes, college funds, retirement, investments, children, grandchildren? It makes you want to scream, “Come on, man, I’m just trying to get through today!” Getting to a GOOD PLACE focuses on planning, protecting and preparing a well-balanced day; which will lead to higher productivity, independence and confidence. It takes a casual, conversational approach to taking life one day at a time, but taking every portion of every day seriously. The ultimate purpose of the book is to reduce the impact of stress, worry and distractions with proven processes that work for every vocation, no vocation … or even a vacation. Getting to a GOOD PLACE will empower you to take control of your day, every day. Everyone deserves to be in a GOOD PLACE.
Don’t Give Away Your Power is process-driven guide, designed to build awareness of your existing power, backed by simple ways to “boost it” and increase your momentum. Unfortunately, many people just “give it away.” Power Boosters and Power Drainers all have these things in common: They are easy to understand. They require no special skill, talent or training to execute. They are applicable to any sex, geography, age or personality. And they can be implemented immediately. Too many people allow their momentum to be controlled by others and settle for less than they deserve. Whether at home, work or play, you can become more powerful. Don’t Give Away Your Power is the second in a five book series of O’talks® dealing with personal productivity.
What factors from your past occupy your mindshare, guide your tendencies and slow your progress toward being your best? Understanding the role our past plays in our lives is vital to finding a productive place to “put it” and proceed to the thriving lifestyle we deserve. Weeds will help you: recognize angst and the role it plays in your life; learn to forget regret and begin to win; accept the need for conflict and resolution; institute preventative maintenance methods. By embracing factors from the past that make us who we are, we can better control their impact on our lives and the lives of those around us. Sharpen your hoe and let’s deal with our Weeds. Weeds is the third book in a five-book series on personal productivity.
