Massachusetts author and Athol Daily News reporter Brian M. Gelinas, has optioned the film/television rights to his novel American Odyssey, published by Outskirts Press in October of 2006.

The option/purchase agreement is with One Eye Open Inc., of Toronto, Ontario; and Cavallo Pictures Ltd., of Vancouver, British Columbia. It initially holds the rights while the two companies move forward with script development efforts.
Gelinas self-published the book in October 2006 through Outskirts Press Inc., of Parker, Colo. As an Outskirts Press author, he retained 100% of his rights to pursue other opportunities.
Based on today’s countless headlines of teenagers either in emotional trouble, on the run or committing any number of crimes, the novel tells a cautionary tale of three less-than-fortunate teenage boys who run away from their troubled lives in a depressed New England factory town. A tumultuous cross-country journey ensues that affects each one in unexpected ways, forever changing their lives.
The book is available locally at Bruce’s Browser, at 1497 Main St., Athol, and on-line at www.outskirtspress.com/AmericanOdyssey, Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com, among other Internet retail sites.
