Self-Publishing Author Spotlight: Carolyn J. Sweers

Outskirts Press is regularly impressed with the creativity of our self-publishing authors. It takes a great deal of discipline and devotion to produce a book — much less several! Today we tip our hat to a woman who has channeled that creativity into three non-fiction books.

This week’s spotlight author is Caroyln J. Sweers. Carolyn has produced three books centered around mind, body and spirit. Learn more about the author and her literary journey here.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Carolyn J. Sweers is by temperament and training a philosopher. Early experiences of a mystic Silence led to a life long quest to find places where the silence lurked and to find the words that point, that clarify, that remind.

Earth, Air, Fire, Water: Recollections of an Iowa ChildhoodEarth, Air, Fire, Water: Recollections of an Iowa Childhood

“I grew up on an Iowa farm in the 40’s and 50’s. I was fortunate to have a lot of leisure time for contemplating the land, the sky, the growing seasons, the work that humans did, as well as the reality of death. The seeds of the philosopher I was to become were sown early, as I observed the world of my rural childhood. These recollections were originally written in 1985 and extensively revised in 2014.” Carolyn Sweers

The book provides opportunities for thinking for the sake of thinking. It poses questions and makes thought-provoking observations. It is an invitation to reflect on a variety of philosophical issues such as personal identity, time, death, appearance and reality, God, choices and hopes.
