Shoe Fetish 2 Grown Into High Heels by Sharon Bennett & Beatrice Moore Virtual Book Tour

With the abundance of self-published authors, you have to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book.  While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion.  However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.

Take note from self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Sharon Bennett & Beatrice Moore, who is taking their latest book, Shoe Fetish 2 Grown Into High Heels, on tour – a virtual book tour, that is. He will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about them and their book.

Luckily for us, Sharon was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Shoe Fetish 2 Grown Into High Heels.

Shoe Fetish 2 Grown Into High Heels book cover

OP: Tell us a little bit about Shoe Fetish 2
Grown Into High Heels
. What is it about?

SB: There is definitely an immediate emotional attachment we experience when we see “the one”—that shoe (or that man) and try them on, praying for the perfect fit, and Oh, Lord Have Mercy, how we pray that it will fit! These three friends continue to find their way through life, love, and its relationships transferring all power and emotions via their shoes, which hold secrets. Some harmless and some deadly; and, though Carmen is untrusting of men and their secrets, she has a few deadly secrets of her own. Women love their shoes for varied reasons. Shoes are not only for protection, beauty, and sex; but, for the life that they can transcend you to, and the secrets that may not have been shared with another person are sometimes within the soles of the shoes.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

SB: We’ve written and journaled since childhood. As we have matured and experienced a multitude of life’s issues, it became a way to channel our celebrations, frustrations, and disappointments. Writing offered a healing process. Then, it dawned on us to help others heal by writing the books.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

SB: Our target audience is women ages 18 and up.  We also hope that our storyline will transcend gender lines and resonate with anyone seeking a good read.

OP: What is special about your book?  What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

SB: It’s not a flowery romance; but, it involves real issues that women of all ages face in relationships.  With those challenges comes a loss of self-love, self-esteem, and self-worth as well as growth, maturity and wisdom.  Their journey is to heal and regain those attributes.  In the process the shoes /shoe shopping is used as a vehicle to draw analogies between the style of shoes and type of male.  These analogies are used in our empowerment speaking engagements, as well.

OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?

SB: Yes, the first book is Shoe Fetish 1: A Woman’s Love for Her Shoes & Her Men.  The first part of this romantic journey.  We are currently working on expanding our Shoe Fetish brand with the release of an extensive workbook to accompany the Shoe Fetish book series. This workbook may be used by book clubs to facilitate meetings or by an individual reader. We are also in the development stages of The She Fetish diaries and journals as well as Shoe Fetish 3.  And the possibility of a self-help book on healthy relationships is in the hopper!

OP: Thanks for your time, Sharon! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!

Unexplored Lives A Collection of Short Stories book cover

OP: Tell us a little bit about Unexplored Lives
A Collection of Short Stories
. What is it about?

JKB: This book of short stories is about different people dealing with difficult circumstances and how they come to terms with them.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

JKB: I decided to write this book as I thought an examination of individuals dealing with psychological trauma would benefit readers who may have their own struggles.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

JKB: I imagine young adults trying to figure out how to deal with tough situations, as well as any other person who wants to explore the various types of traumas and resolutions to these situations.

OP: What is special about your book?  What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

JKB: I believe my book is special because, like the title implies, it conveys lives that are rarely if ever explored by other authors. Since they are also short stories, there are nine different tales that will be unique to the reader.

OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?

JKB: I did publish a tour guide book of San Francisco in 2000. Although I have ideas of future stories, I am taking some time off before considering another book.

OP: Thanks for your time, John! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!

He has lived in Boston, Syracuse, Albany, San Francisco, London, and Dutchess County, New York. As an avid movie goer, he enjoys seeing how plots develop and twist back onto themselves. Regardless of genre, if a movie (or film) is done well, he will gladly view it. It is this interest in various types of perspectives that influenced this book of stories that study the human psyche under stressful conditions. He believes that dealing with life’s uncertainties is something for which we can rarely prepare, but ultimately reveals who we truly are. In his spare time, he goes to the gym, travels, watches lots of movies, plays video games with his nephew, and spoils his cat.

perf8.500x11.000.inddThe Adventures of Patty-Cat and Kittle

What do bouncing, biting, unemployable sheep dogs, sniping spiders, irritated ants, and getting-under-everyone’s-skin, Cousin Fred (addicted to catnip and trouble), plus Billy-Bom-Tom-Cat all have in common? They’re the ones Patty-Cat and Kittle, two adventurous little kittens, meet and deal with, and sometimes it’s not easy! Patty-Cat and Kittle came to live with Angel at 112 Liver Lane, and life is far from dull. Two sheep dogs, Hal and Sam, come snarling down the street, snapping at each other and when Kittle tries to stop them, they turn on her. She suggests they could be nicer to each other, but alas, peacemakers are never appreciated. Off they go, snarling and biting, hoping to fight Hector the goat.

Cousin Fred comes for a visit and disrupts the whole household. Nothing he does turns out right. He spills gingerbread batter all over the kitchen, breaks things, disappears and refuses to do chores. Fred meets a disreputable ruffian called Billy-Bom-Tom-Cat who leads him to a catnip café. Before he is totally beat up, Kittle comes to the rescue and escorts him home. But Fred finds music, banging on the piano, and finally is sent to music school.

cover-3The Further Adventures of Patty-Cat and Kittle
The goblins started the trouble. From their viewpoint, anyone entering Grants Wood was fair game. But tell that to Mr. Billy-Bom-Tom-Cat, and later to Chester… It all started with the ice festival. Patty-Cat and Kittle, who lived with their mother, Angel, at 112 Liver Lane, and their friends, Chester and Susie went to the Ice Festival. It was held each year on the meadow next to Grants Wood, where a pond had been frozen over and where ice bat-ball was played. Colorful booths with games of chance and food items were displayed. While the kittens were there they saw Mr.-Billy-Bom-Tom-Cat being escorted to the edge of the meadow, who then slowly entered the woods. When the kittens heard that fairies were also to be found there, but never seen, the four kittens went exploring Grants Wood. Unfortunately Chester was captured by hostile goblins, but the fairies came to the rescue. Two rambunctious and irresponsible sheep dogs, a nasty black widow spider, the talented Cousin Fred, now in music school, other friends and families of the four kittens all come and go and play a part in the lives of all those who live in Katville. Won’t you join us and read all about the exciting lives of Patty-Cat and Kittle and their friends.

cover-6The Adventures of Patty-Cat, Kittle, and the Prince of Peace

Excitement is running high at 112 Liver Lane, where Angel, and her two kittens, Patty-Cat and Kittle, are preparing for the holiday season. Cousin Fred and his mother, Sunny, are expected to visit, there’s baking to be done, gifts to wrap, a tree to decorate. Of course, first they need to get a tree. A Christmas parade is planned for the residents of Katville. The mayor and dignitaries will attend and friends will be in the parade. Just to prove that few things go smoothly a grinding noise shatters nerves; plaster and dirt fill the air, and … horror, of horrors, that impish elf, Grimsby appears, creating turmoil and scattering debris everywhere. Fortunately this time he brings a tree and of course it has to be decorated. The annoying resident spider, Miss Wilma Weaver, likes to stir up things, and the two sheep dogs, Hal and Sam, romp through the season, as joyfully and stupid and rambunctious as ever. Two new kittens come to town, one unhappy feisty one and another who was cruelly abandoned. Miss Maisey and Miss Katty-Kat, sisters who live next door at 114 Liver Lane, receive an unexpected but cherished Christmas gift and the animals all gather for the solemn Midnight event. If you are curious as to how the two sisters become kind and happy, (quite an about-face), or if you want to find out how everything ends, or if you just want a good read, try this book.

Outskirts Press Bestseller ‘The Rooftop Christmas Tree’ is a Movie!

Has 2016 been a rough year? Many psychologists and clinical researchers report increased levels of stress and anxiety around the holiday season, and for many of our readers this has been a year for the books. And so, it is with great happiness and a fair bit of pride that we introduce you to Landria Onkka, one of Outskirts Press’ award-winning authors, and her book The Rooftop Christmas Tree, a story to reinvest the world with a little joy and magic.

And the good news doesn’t end there! The television rights to this book, originally released back in 2014, were immediately snapped up and the resulting adaptation will air for the first time just after Thanksgiving on the UP Entertainment Worldwide Network (at 7PM and 9PM Eastern Time on November 27th, 9PM on November 29th, and again at 1AM on November 30th). It has quite the star-studded cast and crew! Directed by award-winning Director/Producer David Winning, produced by Oliver De Caigny, and starring Michelle Morgan and Stephen Huszar in its leading roles, this movie is sure to thaw the cold of winter and warm the cockles of your heart as the beautiful story of Onkka’s book takes the silver screen by storm.

The Rooftop Christmas Tree is more than just a holiday story—it’s a human story. Sarah Wright, a small-town attorney in Rosedale, Georgia, has an affinity for animals and a passion for helping the poor. She has found meaning and peace in her life, a peace that is made fragile by the return of her childhood friend John Rivera to Rosedale, now a high-powered corporate attorney. Unable to forgive John for his abrupt departure years earlier, Sarah finds herself at odds with him at every turn, and must deal with romantic feelings she long thought suppressed.

Meanwhile, a former neighbor is making trouble around town—as usual. Mr. Landis, a pugnacious Rosedale institution, hauls a lit Christmas tree out every Christmas … and places it on his roof. Nobody knows why, but he has carried on this tradition for years, landing him in court—and jail—each and every time. When he refuses her help, Sarah finds herself unable to prevent what she knows will be his next infraction, and the judge on the case assigns the case to both young attorneys, forcing them to work together and figure out a way through their complicated history.

bookInspired by real events, author Landria Onkka has produced a work which Christine Watson of Reader Views calls “delightful” and describes as “bring[ing] to life the joy that is associated with the holidays as well as a budding new romance.” This is a book, she writes, which “is best enjoyed while curled up under a blanket with some hot chocolate”—and the television movie adaptation is predicted to produce exactly the same joy and comfort in its readers. Onkka herself reports, after an advance preview that Director David Winning has done “an outstanding job” and that the actors are “first class!”

So make sure to tune in on November 27th, 29th, or 30th for this special holiday treat! For more information about both book and movie, check out Landria Onkka’s personal website at www.landriaonkka.com. If you’re the sort of person who likes to read the book before you see the movie, you can purchase her book through the Outskirts Press Bookstore, or through the book’s Amazon listing. There’s nothing quite like a good movie to make us forget some of the holiday stress, and give us a boost of hope and energy to tackle whatever 2017 has to offer!
