Just try to shush the excitement buzzing in San Francisco this week! June 25-30 marks the annual American Library Association (ALA) conference and exhibition, a huge event that attracts librarians from all levels of management, from all types of libraries, from across the country. Far from a stodgy, stiff event, this year’s conference welcomes an impressive list of celebrity guests: journalist and activist Gloria Steinem, comedian/actor/author Nick Offermann (“Parks and Recreation”), Emmy-winning actress and author Sonia Manzano (Maria on “Sesame Street”), and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Robbie Robertson of The Band, among many others.
