However, technology makes it possible for authors to reach a larger audience, without all of the costly travel.market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion. However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.

The Jaffa Resonance book cover

OP: Tell us a little bit about The Jaffa Resonance. What is it about?

PD: It is a mystery where the theft of a religious icon ignites the search for priceless relics that might be the remnants of an ancient civilization. The main character is a neurologist drawn into the cascade of events by the murder of his friend and the arrival of a beautiful woman. His beliefs about  healing, medicine, and about history are all upended. This is a sophisticated adventure peppered with romance, and featuring international intrigue woven through medicine, religion and ancient history.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

JCS: The challenge of penning a taut adventure has been a lifelong ambition. My medical and personal background has exposed me to stories, places and events that are truly remarkable. I have also always been intrigued as to how an intelligent person could be drawn into highly charged events. In this novel, believable, at times flawed characters  are challenged physically, mentally, spiritually by the crescendo of action. It is satisfying to explore themes often relegated to background color. To make the story an intelligent adventure.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

PD: The novel is targeted to readers who want a sophisticated adventure. Those who enjoy thoughtful characters embroiled in complicated, colorful themes from history, science and medicine.

OP: What is special about your book?  What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

PD: This is adventure at the next level, the level we would all like to explore. Immediately beneath the action is the suggestion that the history of our civilization may be quite different than we have been taught. Clear eyed characters with desires, strengths and flaws are challenged not just by the physical events around them, but by a web fashioned from unique cultures and lands, as well as science, history, and religion.

OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?

PD: Yes. I’ve come to realize that the joy of writing a novel is really to let the story reveal itself. Often that means the story suddenly demands a turn that you hadn’t originally anticipated. I learned a great deal in completing this novel, and the current novel I’m developing builds from that. My previous publications have been medical journal articles, not nearly as fun to write!

OP: Thanks for your time, Patrick! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
