As an author in this economy, you have to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion. However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.
Take note from self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Dee Rose, who is taking his latest book, Cloning Around, on tour – a virtual book tour, that is. He will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about him and his book.
Luckily for us, Dee was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Cloning Around.
OP: Tell us a little bit about Cloning Around. What is it about?
DR: The book is about Special Agent Robert Bassett, who, constantly tries to live up to the name of his legendary father, Reed Bassett, who was also an FBI agent. In this case, a scientist, Dr. Richard VanHellman, has finally uncovered the way to create clones. He intends to rule the world by murdering, and then cloning it’s most powerful people. Dr. VanHellman has the unique gift of reading people’s minds, of which he also uses to control his clones. Once Robert realizes the buried link between himself and Dr. VanHellman, the mission becomes personal. Robert then finds himself, not only fighting for his life and the lives of others, but also fighting for the Bassett’s family honor. With subplots galore, ranging from missing journal pages containing the cloning process and the way to stop VanHellman; Robert’s mistrust of his own department in the FBI; and flashbacks of Robert’s connection to VanHellman; It all leads to a highly anticipated showdown in the place where it all started over twenty years ago.
OP: Why did you decide to write this story?
DR: I decided to write the book because at the time, the issue of human cloning was very big and I wanted to put my own special twist on it.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
DR: I think any fan of thrillers will be interested in this book, along with people who like action and plots that will leave them guessing. It also has a supernatural feel to it as well so fans of that kind of story telling may also like it.
OP: What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
DR: I believe what sets my story apart from others in it’s category is the way the story is told. It switches from the present and past flawlessly. I honestly feel that when people read this book, it will be hard for them to put it down. The action never stops and I think the readers will be so invested in, not just the main characters, but the supporting characters as well.
OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?
DR: Earlier in 2013, I published a romance novel entitled, Forbidden Love. I plan on publishing a fantasy novel at the end of the year or early next year entitled, The Hangman. I also plan to pen a follow up to Cloning Around, which will focus on the main character, Agent Robert Bassett, following his cloning adventure.
OP: Thanks for your time, Dee! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
