According to earlier myth, the young Eastern princess Yeshe Dawa told monks who suggested she pray to be born a man in her next life, only “weak minded worldlings” see gender as a barrier to enlightenment. Author Clemmons presents a fully realized myth of enlightened femininity which can now resonate with the more inclusive spiritual zeitgeist of the 21st century.
