August 10, 2010, Denver, CO –Outskirts Press, Inc. (www.outskirtspress.com), the fastest-growing self-publishing and book marketing company, today announced the addition of three brand new full-color illustration packages for self-publishing children’s book authors seeking affordable, award-winning illustration services. This brings the total available styles to 24.
“Even with advances in POD publishing, self-publishing an illustrated children’s book has been challenging for authors because of the artwork,” Outskirts Press CEO Brent Sampson states. “Finding the right artistic style, negotiating rights with the artist, absorbing the expense, praying the artist delivers the artwork in a reasonable time – these were among the most daunting facets of children’s publishing. No longer! Outskirts Press now offers an amazingly simple solution for all children’s book writers, regardless of where they plan to publish — 24 custom illustration packages.”
One of the major obstacles to children’s publishing is now gone. Divided between two different pricing tiers for both the budget-conscious and the value-focused, Outskirts Press removes all the guesswork and frustration from self-publishing an illustrated children’s story. Perhaps most newsworthy, authors do not have to split their royalty earnings with the artist, which they would usually have to do with other publishers and independent children’s illustrators.
“Finally, it is economically feasible to publish a full-color children’s book with award-winning artwork,” Sampson continues. “The prices are affordable, the artwork is extraordinary, and the value is out of this world. And you don’t even have to publish with Outskirts Press to order these illustration packages, although we’ll give you a 15% discount on your illustrations if you do.”
Once the illustrations are complete, authors choosing to publish with Outskirts Pres can take advantage of the full-color Pearl book publishing package at Outskirts Press, which pays 100% royalties while offering high-quality color publishing in both paperback and hardback formats.
In addition to the full-color book publishing package and 24 illustration packages, Outskirts Press offers a wide variety of writing, black-and-white publishing, and marketing services for any writer’s needs. Visit the all-new Outskirts Press at http://outskirtspress.com to learn more.

I am just about ready to (self) publish my book, “Cooperation Counts! Sensible Strategies for Parenting Toddlers to Teens”
The manuscript and (original) illustrations are just about complete.
I have some concerns about my present self-publisher’s expertise and am open to the possibility of looking into another route for the next phase of readying the manuscript for the actual publishing and marketing piece.
I had originally spoken with Outskirts representatives perhaps a year ago and would appreciate a call or email to discuss options about what to do for the next all important steps.
This is a time sensitive request.
Thanks very much.

what is the cost per page with Illustrations, a nice hard cover with a design. I heard through the grape vine that unless I was a knowen Author, my books would never or almost never get sold, and I will be out the money. I have 6 of them done as we speek and I took them to some liburaries in the Childrens section and they all just loved them. They said after reading them that it was just like being there. Thank you John Freund
What is the best way to print our cookbook that is going to contain about 200 recipes and many many color photos of food and people? We are going to lay it our ourselves but need the rest of the services. hard cover, spiral bound is our thoughts right now.
A full color cookbook sounds like the way to go, which will be with the full color Pearl package (http://outskirtspress.com/pearl) – which offers both paperback and hardback format choices, although not in spiral bound. Bookstore tend to shy away from spiral bound books. Our paperbacks are perfect bound and the hardbacks are quality cloth-stitch case board bound. You can start with a personal publishing consultant to discuss all the details for just $35, which is included in the cost of the package you choose and fully refundable if we cannot publish the manuscript. No extra cost and no risk. You can assign your publishing consultant here: http://outskirtspress.com/customer.php?at=-publish
