Self-Publishing Virtual Book Tour: Remember Thou Art Mortal by Atul Uchil, PhD

As an author in this economy, you have to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion. However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.

Take note from self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Atul Uchil, PhD, who is taking his latest book, Remember Thou Art Mortal, on tour – a virtual book tour, that is. He will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about him and his book.

Luckily for us, Atul was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Remember Thou Art Mortal.

Remember Thou Art Mortal book cover

OP: Tell us a little bit about Remember Thou Art Mortal. What is it about?

AU: The book chronicles the first three years of my post heart attack life, interspersed with chapters that explain medical terms, dietary changes, heart attack symptoms etc.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

AU: Being the eternal optimist and consummate entrepreneur, I thought that I would just brush off my heart attack and bounce back to life as it was before.  I was very wrong.  I wrote this book to inform people of how events of this type change us as individuals and out outlook on life.  I also wanted to highlight the impacts these events have on the individual as well as their family.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

AU: Since almost 60 percent of Americans have experienced or have a genetic &/or diet based pre-disposition to heart troubles, the book is useful to 60% of the population.  Every year, 600,000 people in the US experience their first heart attack. The persons that will benefit most from the book are people who have experienced heart issues and their families, which is about 38% of the US population

OP: What is special about your book?  What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

AU: Most of the books addressing these types of issues are written in third person and in a very clinical manner. This book is written in first person and in a conversational manner.  I have added some of the amazon reviews I received below to help elaborate this fact.

Amazon review by Afton Liddell: “I was skeptical at first of the topic. Usually it’s a dry subject that doesn’t really engage the audience, but this was a completely different experience. It reads like a story and pulls the listener in. I say listener because Dr. Uchil uses a conversational tone that makes you feel like he’s sitting in front of you, giving you the play-by-play of what he went through. He has a knack for making the information relevant to your life – whether you’re a heart attack survivor, a friend or family member of a survivor, or you just want to be inspired by someone who overcame a life-altering challenge with a great attitude and optimistic perspective.”

Amazon review by Joanna: “Dr. Uchil has taken a topic that is very relevant to all of us and presented the information in a manner that even the layman can easily understand. His writing style is easy to follow and intriguing.”

Amazon review By Kent Morgan: “This book shares with all of us a most valuable transformative lesson on how we as individuals facing catastrophic events can repurpose these losses into wisdom and acceptance. Dr. Uchil guides the reader to a greater understanding of what is truly important and valuable in this short journey we call life.”

Amazon review By Luke: I recommend this book to anyone who either has or knows someone who has heart health issues. It provides insight to what the person maybe feeling or experiencing and some ways in which to find or provide support. I also recommend this book to anyone who has had a traumatic life changing event. The lesson here is easily relatable. Having had such an event, I found myself feeling empathetic to the author.  Realizing that I wasn’t the only one who has ever felt that way.

OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?

AU: Remember Thou Art Mortal is my first non-Business book.  I have published five business related books prior:

  • Goals-Based Strategic Planning: ISBN –  1432723309
  • Relationship Selling: ISBN –  1432715007
  • The Corporate America Survival Handbook: ISBN –  1598000942
  • Consulting: A Job or A Lifestyle: ISBN –  1598000640
  • I Opted Out: ISBN – 1598000713

I am already working on my next book.  If you like Remember Thou Art Mortal, I am sure you will love the next book.  What’s it called?  Well, you’ll have to just wait and see….

OP: Thanks for your time, Atul! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
