For many self-publishing authors, it can be a challenge to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they may not be cost-effective, especially if you want to reach a nationwide audience. However, technology makes it possible for authors to reach a larger audience, without all of the costly travel.
Take note from self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Pura Regalado, who is taking her latest book, Pure Gift, on tour – a virtual book tour, that is. She will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about her and her book.
Luckily for us, Pura was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Pure Gift.
OP: Tell us a little bit about Pure Gift. What is it about?
PR: It is about my personal account of my encounter with a supernatural force which to my perception is God.
OP: Why did you decide to write this story?
PR: I was compelled to write it by God. When senseless killings were happening one after the other, week after week, I felt guilty that perhaps these senseless killings would have been prevented if my story had been heard earlier.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
PR: Everybody should read my book because there are so many things that are happening in our world that are misunderstood and also God revealed to me the reason for the inconsistencies in the Bible, the flaws of all religions and the identities of the false prophets.
OP: What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
PR: Other books dealing with matters I wrote about are mostly pure conjectures. My book tells the truth.
OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?
PR: My first attempt to convey what God revealed to me was in my first book which I entitled ‘The Book of Life’ which I also self-published through Vantage Press but Vantage press did not have sufficient programs to market my book effectively, it was a failure. This is my second book. I have written another story about the reasons I left my home country which I may publish.

Pura Regalado earned a B.S. in Architecture at the Mapua Institute of Technology in her native Philippines and taught there before migrating to Florida. She worked for an Architectural firm that specialized in luxury homes. Her last assignment before going on retirement was to supervise the construction of a multi-million dollar home in Florida, which got the Best Construction of the Year Award in Hollywood, Florida.
