Reach out to market a self-published book. Better yet, do without buying a plane ticket and getting the TSA involved. While making the rounds to summer book fair are a fun way to connect with your readers in other cities, technology has made it possible to earn fans in other cost-effective ways.
Self-publishing Outskirts Press author Kevin Simpson is taking his book, $25 Dollar Miracle, on a virtual book tour so you can learn more about him and his book. Kevin will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more.
Kevin took some time out to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we could give you a sneak peek into the financial mind behind $25 Dollar Miracle.
OP: Tell us a little bit about $25 Dollar Miracle. What is it about?
KS: $25 Dollar Miracle introduces a whole new way of thinking. A miracle in the sense, that unlike our outdated JOB system today, where nobody wins, the $25 Dollar Miracle is a system where nobody loses; fail-proof, self-funding, while staying ahead of the constant rise in the cost of living—all created for the benefit of the people and not the system. Unlike other similar ideas that continue to provide a 98 percent failure rate, both online and offline, at the mercy of money-first-leadership, renowned for aggressively attempting to convince people to buy something they don’t need, don’t want and can’t afford, the $25 Dollar Miracle stands contrary to this; the masses need a miracle, they want a miracle. And now, anyone can have a miracle with an exclusive, on-growing, membership package.
OP: Why did you decide to write this book?
KS: In 1996, when I walked away from a multimillion-dollar music management deal after chasing it for 23 years, I left $250,000 of investor debt on the table that quickly became in excess of $500,000. I needed a solution that could not only allow me to be responsible and accountable to my investors, but also a means powerful enough to resolve the debt issues of the masses and put an end to the financial struggles that currently plague those in the nonprofit sector.
OP: How did you get your book published?
KS: I felt for 23 years that my future would be in the country music industry; however, while studying for the Ministry, God told me that I was going to get the music deal I always thought I wanted, but by the time I got it, I wouldn’t want it; He was right!
In September of 1995, at the Country Music Awards Show, I was offered that deal. Months later, I found myself walking away from it. Who’d have thought?
I went on to become a pastor from 2001 to 2007, when God instructed me to begin compiling my notes and experiences from 1996. That was it! He later told me why I resigned from the pulpit, why my zeal for His word was so profound since 1987, why I was recapturing and maintaining notes outside of biblical studies since 1996, and that those very notes would result in the message today found in my book, $25 Dollar Miracle.
Although I considered a number of other companies for publishing my book, Outskirts Press was clearly the choice. I simply knew in my heart that they were the company I was to choose and trust, and not surprisingly, they are genuinely honoring, and if not exceeding, all they have promised.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
KS: If anyone is tired of living paycheck to paycheck, on credit, paying bills and stockpiling debt, like, refinanced car loans, mortgages, or credit cards, etc., then they will want to read this book.
If anyone is tired of not being able to visit family, friends or whomever, wherever, when they so choose because of finances, then they too, will want to read this book.
If anyone is tired of not being paid what they are worth at work, or worse still, tired of being paid the same as a coworker, who does nothing, they will probably want to read this book.
If anyone is tired of having to work a second or third job to make ends meet, then they will want to read this book.
If anyone is tired of hating Mondays and/or living for the weekend or merely despises the thought of heading off to do what they have no passion for doing, then they will also want to read this book.
If anyone is tired of multiple failures in life and/or business and has promised themselves to never again trust anyone or anything, then these people, are strongly encouraged to read this book.
OP: What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
KS: This book is not about money, the love of it or chasing it; it’s about preservation of dignity and freedom. Nor is this book about its author or seeking some favorable position of political influence or power. This book is more about introducing accountable, people-first, God-fearing leadership, as well as the solution to a serious problem. It offers not only the power to remove global debt, hunger and put an end to nonprofit fund-raising challenges, but to allow the a change the opportunity to introduce itself.
OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?
KS: Yes, I have published other books as giveaways and for educational purposes. I absolutely do plan to publish other books in the future.
OP: Thanks for your time, Kevin! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
The author’s all time favorite quote is from the book of Philippians 2:3 that says: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves.” Since July of 1996, after walking away from an estimated multimillion dollar music management offer, leaving $250,000 of investor debt on the table, growing to over $500,000, life was suddenly no longer about Kevin, but rather, about being accountable to his investors, the masses who carry debt, and putting an end to fund-raising nightmares.
