Self publishing a book is an exciting undertaking. Because we understand the dedication that is required to write a quality book, we like to feature our top authors each week so that you can get to know a little bit more about them and their book. This week, we are featuring Tkumah A&T&D’s Be Afraid of a Dentist, Be Afraid..
In her latest book, self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Tkumah A&T&D, composed (in the words of her father and herself) her chronicle of the dental “crimes” she was forced to suffer. Her story brings to light what she feels is a vacuum of information in dental diagnosis and a venal motivation for dentistry’s services.
After years of failed dental treatment, author Tkumah is still forced to drink all her food. She still experiences pain every time she opens or closes her mouth because her jaw muscles have been locked in a kind of uncomfortable and permanent “clench,” the result of her jaw continually responding to uncorrected dental repairs.
Because Tkumah had not suffered from any “clenching” before her treatment and because her gums and teeth had been in excellent condition, she began to suspect there must be some kind of dentistry conspiracy behind TMJ syndrome, gum diseases, failed implants, migraines and other mental, emotional and physical troubles.
It seemed to her that dentistry would only point out the symptoms of dental difficulties and had come to mistake them for the cause.
Tkumah suspects that until dentistry recognizes the importance of tooth size and the relationship of the teeth to the jaw, these oral diseases and other difficulties will not be diagnosed correctly for anyone.
