At Outskirts Press, Inc., we take great pride in celebrating the work of our successful self-publishing authors, and we do so each week through our Self-Publishing Author Spotlight. This week we highlight self-publishing author Pablo A. García-Chevesich, Ph. D., who has published three successful titles with Outskirts Press.
Pablo A. Garcia-Chevesich, Ph.D. uses his knowledge, expertise and passion for hydrology and erosion control to create education text for anyone studying, teaching or interested in the field. Learn more about Pablo and his contributions to the fight against global desertification through this week’s Self-Publishing Author Spotlight.
About the Author:
Pablo A. Garcia-Chevesich, Ph. D is a researcher, teacher and consultant in the area of the sustainable watershed management expert in hydrology and erosion control, as well as mitigating climate change, from the point of view of the management of land and water resources. With experience in the United States, South America and Africa, García-Chevesich is a member of the Commission of the Programme of International Development of the International Erosion Control Association. He has devoted much of his career to community-based watershed management and overcoming rural poverty, arguing that policies and practices for the conservation of soil and water, as well as sustainable management of river basins, are fundamental for the fulfillment of this purpose.
Procesos y Control de la Erosión
Procesos y Control de la Erosión is the Spanish version of Erosion Control and Land Restoration. This book provides the knowledge needed to successfully stabilize any situation in which soil erosion has occurred or is occurring, returning the land to a natural and/or productive state.

Control de la Erosion is the continuation of “Procesos y Control de la Erosión,” published in 2008, with more chapters and new techniques to recover degraded soils. The text is successfully used in many countries as text guide for short courses, undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses, all focused on the theme of the erosion control and recovery of degraded soils.

Erosion Control and Land Restoration
The future of our species is currently being threatened by three main environmental issues: global warming, overpopulation, and soil erosion and desertification. This text addresses soil erosion and desertification. Worldwide, an area equivalent to 36 football fields is lost every minute due to erosion and desertification processes; in many places this loss never recovers again. This book provides the knowledge needed to successfully stabilize any situation in which soil erosion has occurred or is occurring, returning the land to a natural and/or productive state. This book is intended for use by anyone dealing with natural resources management, alterations in the soil-water-plant relationship, or the application of engineering principles to restore eroded or altered land – that is, researchers, professors, students, consultants, and other professionals. Available in English and Spanish, this book is used as a required text for undergraduate, graduate, and short courses focused on soil conservation, erosion/sediment control, and land restoration practices in many countries worldwide. By purchasing this book, you are contributing to the SOIL Fund of the International Erosion Control Association, which provides worldwide resources for land restoration projects that benefit poor communities.
