As an author in this economy, you have to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion. However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.
Take note from self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Carolyn Outlaw Kuhn, who is taking his latest book, Suffering in Silence, on tour – a virtual book tour, that is. He will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about him and his book.
Luckily for us, Carolyn was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Suffering in Silence.
OP: Tell us a little bit about Suffering in Silence. What is it about?
COK: A dysfunctional family’s painful journey dealing with alcoholism, a family rape, a “secretive” incarceration, abandonment, physical and sexual abuse. Unfortunately, childhood wounds form who we become as adults until the cycles are broken; can forgiveness, healing and inner peace replace resentment and anger. Truly an inspirational book.
OP: Why did you decide to write this story?
COK: I wrote this book in loving memory of my sister. I strongly believe that airing our family’s dirty laundry will help another family in crisis.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
COK: I believe “Suffering in Silence” is an inspirational book for anyone who has suffered childhood wounds, especially anyone trying to cope with the scars of sexual and physical abuse.
OP: What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
COK: “Suffering in Silence” is a wonderful resource for any adult suffering from childhood wounds. It further addresses the importance of forgiveness and healing, which ultimately achieves inner peace. Also, I am donating a portion of the proceeds to charity to assist victims of sexual abuse in getting the required mental health care.
OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?
COK: I plan to start working soon on a suspense novel.
OP: Thanks for your time, Carolyn! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
