As an author in this economy, you have to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion. However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.

Luckily for us, Douglas & Charles were kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creators of Code Name Rustler.
OP: Tell us a little bit about Code Name Rustler. What is it about?
DES & CTW: Soviet nuclear engineer, Colonel Zelta Rensky plans to use Operation Code Name Rustler –the hijacking of the US nuclear submarine, Alabaster—to defect. Lied to by the director of the CIA he works for, her brother, Joseph Rendman a senior field agent, thinking his sister was killed during WWII, foils her attempts to escape Russia and Minister Karenev who exploited her expertise and sexuality for political gain. Her quest takes Colonel Rensky on a treacherous chase from Moscow to Cuba and back again as she comes to find love with a like-minded Russian doctor, Vassily Sovosky, and together they work frantically to outwit the KGB, Cuban Military Intelligence, and, before it’s over, even the CIA. With US war plans, shocking family secrets, hidden guerrilla outposts, an impending expatriate invasion and a sunken sub carrying nuclear missiles at stake, this lightening paced action and adventure tale expertly interwoven together with a powerful love story shocks and satisfies
OP: Why did you decide to write this story?
DES & CTW: We were inspired by the sinking of the USS Thresher to write a cold war era, action adventure espionage thriller laced with romance.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
DES & CTW: Action, Adventure, spy/espionage, Thriller, Romance
OP: What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
DES & CTW: It is a unique insight into the prevailing mood of the cold war espionage era between Russia, the U.S. and Cuba. Douglas Sipple is a former teacher who left the classroom for an appointment from the U.S. Treasury Department with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as a Special Agent, as well as a liaison Officer for background and security information for the Washington D.C. field office to the Central Intelligence Agency. He currently invests time and money in real estate, race horses, hunting, fishing, and his grandchildren.
Charles Wolstenholme was trained by the United States Air Force on offensive fire control systems (gunnery and bombing electronics). He trained on T-33/F80, F86 and F100 fighter bombers as well as B-57 bombers and was deployed to Vietnam with a deployed B57 aircraft. He also spent time in Formosa, with alert ready F100 aircraft loaded with nuclear bombs. He is a business owner and resides in Harbeson, DE.
