Luckily for us, David D. Bernstein was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of “Spirral” The CORT Chronicles Book 2.

OP: Tell us a little bit about “Spirral” The CORT Chronicles Book 2. What is it about?

David:  This book is the second part of trilogy called The CORT Chronicles. A civil war rages on, and a world is about to be fully fall into deep darkness. Andy, John, Wendy, and Zack must figure out how to save everything they love, but before they win the battle against a powerful corporation named CORT, they must win the battles within. Our heroes must travel through this dangerous world and destroy a new powerful robot named Spirral who is causing death and destruction everywhere. The children are guided by powerful sages and given tools to survive. They soon discover that only teamwork, human connection, and emotions can truly triumph over evil.

OP: Why did you decide to write this story?

David: I decided to write this book to send a powerful message to our children who are suffering more then ever these days. They have been kept away from human connection to their school friends and teachers. They have been kept away from live learning by powerful organizations like teacher unions and others. Teachers are wonderful and want all the best for their students, but these leaders of the unions only care about profit and themselves. I hope this book will teach our kids and their parents that they can do anything they put their minds to. I hope this book also gives the readers a chance to escape the stress and problems they face daily. It sends a powerful message that anything is possible and even one person can make a huge difference in their lives and in others.

OP: How did you get your book published?

David: I self-published this book with Outskirts Press. They are a wonderful company that I have published five books with and plan to publish more in the future. The team that was assigned to me gave their full support as I went through the publishing process.

OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?

David: I believe that many people will be interested in this book. It sends a powerful message not only to our children but to the adults in this world as well. It shows that human emotions, teamwork, and connection to the natural world can triumph over evil. I recommend this book is for anyone who is ten to one hundred since it does have some mature subject matter that is not appropriate for younger children.

OP: What is special about your book?

David: I believe that each book that comes out is special in its own way. Books create new worlds to explore and new characters to love. In this case if I were to share what makes “Spirral” special it is probably the strong message it teaches, the characters it brings to life and the struggles and adventures that happen with our heroes. The action-packed scenes and the wonderful illustrations also make this book special.

OP: What differentiates it from other books in the same category?

David: Every book is different from another book because each book is written with a different voice, a different point of view and a different vision.

OP: Have you published any other books, and do you plan to publish more?

David: Other books I published are: “Voices of the Heart” this is a collection of my poetry from high school to college and unfortunately is out of print, but I do plan to bring it back soon. Two picture books “The Enchanted Rope” and “Peanut.” They both deal with hard issues in life. One deals with the death of a loved one and how to connect to them and the other book deals with divorce and obsession and how to overcome those things. My latest books “Spirral” and “Rebirth” are part of my trilogy. The first book in this trilogy named “The Portal” won a CIPA EVVY Merit award in Juvenile Fiction in 2018. I do have plans to publish more books in the near future.

OP: How can someone learn more about your book or purchase it?

David: Both my picture books and the Trilogy are available on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Outskirts Press Bookstore and other online bookstores. “The Portal” is also available in as an audio book that you can find on Apple iTunes.

OP: Thanks for your time, David! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
