cover (12)Developing Communication for Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method

This book is a systematic guide towards developing communication using RPM. Communication is an essential part of life. The author believes that individuals with autism should not be left behind because their stimulations and motor skills may not respond in the same way as “typical “individuals. Soma proves through her teachings that success comes with practice and practicing the steps of communication in this book will help teachers, students and parents.

cover (7)Developing Motor Skills for Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method

Developing Motor Skills for Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method discusses how to develop skills necessary for improved motor functioning. When communication between mind and body fails, it leaves the individual with autism or associated disorders unable to function in a purposeful way and do the day-to-day activities. A mind that is cognitively able may become frustrated by the body’s functioning limitations. Day-to-day activities are different from instinctual, obsessive or recreational activities. They are purposeful motor activities that need to be practiced to further the functional independence. Sona gives readers suggested lesson plans in this book that help to stimulate motor pathways in the brain so that the person with autism adapts better in a sensory stimulating world.

Developing Expressive Language in Verbal Students With Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method

This book was written for a group of students with autism who have enough speech to state requests or recite dialogs but not enough to discuss a specific topic. This book will describe ways I have found to successfully work with verbal and semi-verbal students with Autism who may have functional speech but are struggling with academic progress. This book includes chapters to map a communication formula. “Soma Mukhopadhyay takes us to the next level in thinking about how access to RPM can promote the development of speech. This book would be helpful for professionals and families wondering how augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and speech work together.” Katie Anawalt, M.S., CCC-SLP “As a Speech-Language Pathologist for 27 years and a practicing Certified RPM Provider of over 3 years, I find RPM helps students access language through RPM that they are not able to access through speech. Developing Expressive Language in Verbal Students With Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method is a valuable tool for challenges such as word retrieval that many students on the Autism Spectrum may experience.” Jackie Dorshorst M.S.,SLP

Mathematical Concepts For Autism Using Rapid Prompting Method

This book uses RPM techniques to teach mathematical concepts to students. Mathematical concepts are separated from computational details in this book because many students with autism may not have the visual stamina to look at the details of math problems or the performance tolerance to complete multi-step problems. The lesson plans in this book include steps that are easy to follow. Mathematics is not just for mathematicians or to complete a competence test. It is an integral part in our daily lives and understanding the concepts will widen the thinking areas of an autistic individual.
