Luckily for us, Kevin was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of Turn It Up! Confessions Of A Radio Junkie.
OP: Tell us a little bit about Turn It Up! Confessions Of A Radio Junkie. What is it about?
Kevin: My 47-year career in radio broadcasting.
OP: Why did you decide to write this story?
Kevin: I wanted to clear up some “misconceptions” about the radio broadcasting business and to offer it as an example to young people that broadcasting, and journalism are honorable professions and worth considering as a career path.
OP: How did you get your book published?
Kevin: I contacted Outskirts Press and went through their review process.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
Kevin: My radio listeners, students…over 200 million people listen to AM/FM radio each week in the U.S. so, in theory, it’s got potential wide reach.
OP: What is special about your book?
Kevin: The radio broadcasting business has undergone major changes in the past 30 years. Not all of them good. But, the business, despite all of the problems, has proven to be among the most resilient of all businesses and has survived 100 years now.
OP: What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
Kevin: They are all personal stories of how to begin and survive a career in a very cutthroat business. And, I have met some interesting (and in many cases, well known) people.
OP: Have you published any other books?
Kevin: No. This was my first book.
OP: Do you plan to publish more?
Kevin: I DO have some ideas for another book. One focusing on all of the interviews I have done in the past 30 or so years.
OP: Thanks for your time, Kevin! We look forward to learning more about you as you visit other bloggers!
