“Try-before-you-buy” sales strategies (i.e. trials, previews, samples) are driven by the undeniable fact that consumers are more inclined to purchase a product when they’ve had the opportunity to test it out first.
By allowing readers to browse your work while they’re actively looking for their next selection, you open the door for them. You welcome readers with a preview, allow their senses to be intrigued by your work, and the buyer develops confidence and certainty to make the purchase.
If you want to turn browsers into buyers, it’s important to offer readers an option to preview your book online. Digital previews, such as the Google Books Preview Program and Amazon’s Search Inside program, allow readers to see a limited preview of your book while making the next step (purchasing the book) as easy as possible. According to Amazon, books participating in the Search Inside program enjoy significant sales improvement, on average.
Writing a book has been your dream, focus, passion and pursuit. Completing the writing of your book has required devotion, commitment, perseverance, sacrifice and confidence. Now what? Are you ready to see your dream realized?

Sandra Harris, Ph.D. received her B.A. from Stanford University and her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon. As a VA clinical psychologist, she conducted psychotherapy with combat veterans. Dr. Harris is a past president of the California Psychological Association, from which she received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Distinguished Contribution to Psychology Award. Dr. Harris retired to Scottsdale, Arizona after a 33-year career in psychology. Dr. Harris is working on her second novel.
Thirty years after the Vietnam War, eight U.S. veterans bravely return to the country where their enemy lurked so long ago. Retired VA psychologist Dr. Ken Carson prepares the men to minimize the trauma of their journey while Reverend Johnny Green and Rabbi David Aloni lend spiritual support. In Vietnam, the veterans confront their painful, haunting memories: crossing leech-infested rice paddies in the dead of night surrounded by enemy; peasants who could be carrying weapons under their loose fitting “pajamas”; terror in the tunnels; degradation in the whorehouses and more. Finally able to relate to each other emotionally, without the detachment that was necessary for survival during the war, the men form a mini-platoon during the trip, bonding in their quest for wellness. Shrapnel: A Journey Toward Psychological Healing highlights the courage of the veterans while eloquently examining the long-term effects of combat stress and helping to remove the stigma of mental health treatment.

Do the Adam’s have more to fear from the living or the dead? Twenty-five years have passed since eight-year old Carl Weber drowned in Gray’s Pond, and now one member of the Adam’s family has returned to Kimberton, Pennsylvania, to reside again in the old mansion. It’s time for Michael Adams to revisit his past, and for wife Donna and daughter, Kim, to become acquainted with their neighbors-a rather odd old couple who own the farm next door. Each day, however, brings strange occurrences–increasing paranormal activity, till it becomes agonizingly clear that ghosts of the past are trying to make their presence known.
Under the cover of darkness, the serpent waits, watching for the right moment to strike.
She stared into the hypnotic eyes, drowning, thoughts scattered. The serpent’s eyes were compelling, raw, pulling secrets from her soul. It tried to merge with her mind, become as one. It was terrifying, and yet, she couldn’t stop it. When foster teen, RACHEL LARK is sent to camp, she plans to run away. But the city girl is unprepared for what she encounters in the woods, a terrifying serpent. As Rachel looks for help, she finds camp leaders aren’t what they seem. Now Rachel will face the evil changeling using survival skills she never knew she possessed. For deep within the Serpent’s lair, Rachel will come face to face with the beast from her nightmares.
A nurse who gives invisible shots, a girl who likes to dart into corners and a man who still sits in the common room are just three of the spirits haunting the Pennhurst Asylum in Spring City, Pennsylvania. How do I know that? I have spent the past Halloween season working in the Mayflower building, 2nd floor and have witnessed the paranormal activity first hand. Over twenty-five years ago, Pennhurst State School and Mental Hospital was closed down due to resident abuse. Today Pennhurst has been turned into a Halloween attraction. I took a job as an orderly working in the Mayflower building, one of the most spiritually active of all the buildings. People are fascinated with Pennhurst and want to know more of its past and its present. Intrigued, I decided to do my own research. I have written a book bringing the past and present together to not just entertain, but also enlighten.
Ghost. The very word tempts the mind with lurid images of lost souls trapped in an alternate dimension. Many of us will never encounter a ghost or perhaps be aware of its presence. But that doesn’t mean they don’t exist – in fact, they do exist- in the battered walls of the Mayflower Hall, Pennhurst. With its morbid history, Pennhurst State School and Hospital left behind a tragic legacy of neglect and abuse. Opening in 1908, Pennhurst was created to isolate the mental and physically handicapped from “normal” society and institutionalize them. The most vulnerable lived at Pennhurst—children. Conditions quickly became strained by limited staff, overcrowding and lack of funding. Finally in the 1980’s, Pennhurst began closing its doors. Today the remnants of Pennhurst are hard to ignore with its towering fortress of crumbling buildings and rustic grounds. But during the Halloween season, Pennhurst Haunt offers several attractions for the curious or thrill seekers. Ghost Hunt is located in the Mayflower Hall. For several years, I have spent time in this dark, eerie building and have witnessed the paranormal first hand. This sequel to the original Ghosts of Mayflower offers a reader a chance to spend some time in one of the most haunted locations in Pennsylvania. And if you dare, please come visit us.
