As an author in this economy, you have to come up with creative ways to market a self-published book. While book tours are a great way to connect with your readers, they aren’t the most affordable method of promotion. However, technology has made it possible for an alternative.
Take note from self-publishing Outskirts Press author, Daniel House, who is taking his latest book, The Drug Rep, on tour – a virtual book tour, that is. He will be featured on several blogs over the weeks and months ahead so keep your eyes peeled to learn more about him and his book.
Luckily for us, Daniel was kind enough to answer a few questions as the tour was getting started so that we can give you a sneak peek into the mind of the creator of The Drug Rep.
OP: Tell us a little bit about The Drug Rep. What is it about?
DH: It is a book of fiction that follows our main character as he returns from Afghanistan to find that his wife has left him. He sets his mind on getting her back no matter the consequences. He decides to become a Serial Killer in the hope that if he becomes famous that he could get her back.
OP: Why did you decide to write this story?
DH: I have always wanted to write a book and I felt that I had a great story in my head so when the time and opportunity presented itself I finally began writing it.
OP: What types of readers would be interested in this story?
DH: The Drug Rep is not meant for the young reader. It is for the reader that enjoys a murder mystery story, along with a story that includes adult themes and is mixed in with a little humor.
OP: What is special about your book? What differentiates it from other books in the same category?
DH: I based this book loosely on myself, and even though it is a book of fiction everything in it could actually happen. Should make the reader think about the next trip to the family doctor.
OP: Have you published any other books? Do you plan to publish more?
DH: I have another book idea that I am in the starting phase of writing now.
