Vote now for the winner of the free iPad Mini

Earlier this month, Outskirts Press invited members of its Facebook community and family of successfully published authors to participate in a “Give Thanks” video promotion for the chance to win a free Apple iPad Mini.

Now it’s time for you to choose the winner of the iPad Mini! From among all the submissions we received, the top videos are presented below.

Vote for your favorite in the polling box below the last video. The polls will be open until 11:59 PM EST on Wednesday (November 28th). The winner will be announced on Friday, November 30th. Thank you to all our wonderful authors who took the time to submit a video; and good luck to our fantastic finalists.

Now, without further ado…

  1. Melissa,

Please do not buy my book. I intend to send you s copy when Outskirts sends me your address or email. Meanwhile, we will have to communicate this way. I ordered your book right after the voting was over and received it today (Saturday). I have only had time to read a few pages and I am anxious to finish reading the rest. I hope you see this. There was no Reply button for your post.

    Thanks for your big AMAZING.

    Bob Ralston

  2. :/ I didn’t mean for that to come off as offensive I was honestly just wondering.
Like I’d honestly like to say congrats to Bob for winning.
I’m sorry for offending you!! Xxx

    1. Laura,
Thanks for your kind remarks. I’m sorry I took your post the wrong way. You asked why I would want an iPad Mini. There is no proper answer to your question. Why does anyone want anything beyond necessities of life. I took your question to mean why an antique like me would want such a highly technically advanced device.

However, if you are interested in how I will use it, I’m glad to give you an answer. Although I am quite old, my mind is still the same as years ago. I am quite expert on the Mac and do many things besides email and web surfing. Mostly, I do videography and video editing. My entry was my first experiment with “Green Screen” techniques. It was a bit rough in spots and I will be working to master the process.

The mini has most of the same abilities as my main computer so I can work back and forth on projects. That’s just a sample of what I do on my computer other than video and writing a book.

      Thanks again,

      Bob

      1. dickens2bob is my user name on an intermediate program. I am really Robert Ralston

    1. The retired physicist is still a kid at heart and he likes toys! His video is very creative and deserves a VOTE for # 3.

    2. I am astonished by your comment. I know many people who would like and use an iPad Mini who can’t afford one.

    3. Laura, I can’t let your question go unanswered. I am the retired nuclear physicist you don’t seem to like.

The answer is that I am an 86 year old veteran of world war 2. I don’t know what you think a person such as I, has as income. I retired 32 years ago and in1980 salaries were not what they are now. Answer: probably my income is much less than yours. So, the answer to your question is that I can’t afford to buy one.

This is not a popularity contest. The main criteria is creativity as stated on the invitation to enter a video. I am a videographer and my video is entirely my own creation.

Of course you have your own ideas and I respect yours as much as I do mine.

      Thanks,

      Bob

      1. Your video was absolutely AMAZING. I’m jealous hahaha.
        Congrats on winning!
I’m going to buy your book. I barely know anything about you but you inspire me so much. I hope you see this message.

    4. Well why not! What is so wrong about wanting an ipad mini. Please put your judgments on a back shelf and be open and embrace others different from you. Actually, do you really know what a nuclear physicist does? If you did then you would certainly understand the desire. Did you know this particular physicist (because I researched this out) worked on one of the first computers ever in the world at the Livermore Lab. This man is part of history – the development of computers and the whole history of where we are today with computer technology (ipad!) is because of the work and contributions from the team at the Livermore Lab and this man was part of that team.

Read his book and learn more about this man.

    1. -.- my friend stole my computer.
      “Melissa” WAY TO GO wow.
But please vote for me guys, I’d love to say I finally won something <3

      1. P.S. I think I’m going to buy your books (Confessions of a Tour Guide and God Physics and Me) 🙂
