Co-op Advertising for Self-Publishing Authors in ForeWord Reviews

ForeWord Reviews is delivered to librarians, booksellers, agents, and other industry professionals. Additionally, ForeWord is sent directly to small press buyers at the chains (Barnes&Noble, Borders, Chapters, Books-A-Million, etc). ABA’s Booksense also requests 500 copies of each issue for delivery direct to their members. ForeWord also is placed in the hands of agents and editors at larger houses, who may be looking for leads to bring into their fold from the small press sector. All told, the ForeWord circulation is approx 85% librarians, 12% bookstores, and 3% publishing professionals.

Now you can reach this influential readership
with a Co-Op advertisement.

Outskirts Press handles all the details for authors.

Co-Op Advertising allows you to secure premium, full-color exposure for your book in a high-quality trade publication for a minimal amount of money. Your book will occupy a 2″ x 2″ space along with other Outskirts Press titles within a full-color ad. Your ad space will include a full color cover image, an abbreviated synopsis, the ISBN, and retail price of the book. All books will include retail and wholesale ordering information.

Here’s the full-color author co-op ad appearing in the March/April/May issue of the ForeWord Reviews:

HOW TO ORDER:

Our ForeWord Co-op Ad option is now available for ALL authors – regardless of where they published their books. Shared advertising costs can help you reach your book promotion goals quickly and without all the high costs that independent/self-publishing authors normally pay.

Facebook Fandemonium Volume 2 is Coming!

It’s that time of year again–when your New Year’s Resolutions predict 2012 will be the year you get published.

Outskirts Press can help!  Many of our published authors already know how satisfying it can be to publish with Outskirts Press, but many of our Facebook friends don’t–yet!  If you’re new to Outskirts Press, you can discover just how easy & fun it can be to publish by getting published for free in our next Facebook anthology.

Because our first Facebook anthology, Fandemonium, was so successful, we’ve decided to publish another! That’s right — Fandemonium Volume 2 is coming and you are invited to be a part of it!

Have you written a poem or short story that you would like to enter for a chance to be published for free in this new anthology featuring our talented Facebook friends?

Here’s how you can submit your work for consideration:

  1. Become an Outskirts Press Facebook friend by “liking” us on Facebook.
  2. Tell your writing friends to “like” us, too — so they can vote on your submission and enter their own.
  3. Beginning right now thru January 15, post your submission on your wall and share it so it posts on our wall, or comment directly to this posting or to our wall with your own submission and then share it.
  4. Read other submissions and “Like” and “Share” the ones you are fond of.

Submissions with the highest number of votes will be considered for inclusion in our upcoming Fandemonimum Volume 2 anthology. Submissions can be fiction, non-fiction, or poetry.  Facebook limits wall postings and comments to a limited number of words/characters, so if your submission is longer, use multiple sequential comments, or provide a link to the entire submission elsewhere, like on your Facebook profile/wall, or elsewhere on the Internet. The maximum word count allowed is 5000, but shorter entries are better.

You must be the sole copyright holder to the material you are submitting and you will retain 100% of the copyrights to it. You grant us a non-exclusive right to use the materials you submit through our social media channels and within the Facebook Anthology when it is published and distributed and you understand that royalties from the sale of Fandemonimum are not split among the contributors but rather go to the American Red Cross.

Yes, this is your chance to get published for free and help a good cause at the same time. Royalties from the sale of Fandemonium Volume 2 benefit the American Red Cross.  And you will be kept up-to-date on Facebook regarding the book’s production process and its availability when copies are for sale.

Watch the book video trailer for Fandemonium Volume 1 here:

In the meantime, you can benefit the American Red Cross right now with your 10% discounted purchase of the first anthology, Fandemonium Volume 1, by clicking here. Then submit your work for the second volume now.

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT & SUCCESS STORY

Carol A. Bender left a more lucrative profession in real estate to pursue a calling in human services. She has worked with abused and neglected children for more than ten years. The roles of teacher/student were often interchangeable. Carol hopes to empower children to think for themselves and use sound judgment. Carol followed her heart and now experiences more joy and wealth than she ever did before. Living in a rambling old farm house with her husband Eric, who she affectionately refers to as Captain Chaos, they are following their dreams of owning a bed & breakfast. Happy to have her grandchildren nearby and plenty of farm animals to keep her company, she shares her adventures, creative process, and much more on her blogs. http://carolbenderauthor.blogspot.com/

“I love having choices. Outskirts is all about options. I am very satisfied with my experience with Outskirts and what they are doing for writers everywhere. Outskirts gave me the opportunity to publish my picture book with confidence, in less than half the time it would have taken with a traditional publisher. It feels great knowing children are meeting my characters, Picky Peter and the pigs in 2011. Children can enjoy my story about making healthy choices, NOW. That makes me very happy.”

- Carol A. Bender, author of Picky Eater, That Peter

Author Spotlight : Charlotte Endorf

Charlotte Endorf has been an author with Outskirts Press since 2005 and in that span of time has published eight books, including her most recent, My Wooden Spoon, which chronicles her eccentric, amazing journey as the Nebraska Mother of the Year!  This is another accomplishment in Charlotte’s impressive “professional platform” that also includes winning “Distinguished Toastmaster” twice and the “Toastmaster of the Decade” from Toastmasters International.

She inspires and educates audiences with professional talks designed to complement each of her many books, and is as generous as she is inspirational.  During this holiday season, Charlotte is leveraging her recent “Nebraska Mother of the Year” recognition to set up a “Little Free Library” in her town, which has a population of 291 but does not boast a library.

“An author living in a town without a library is just not right!” she strongly believes.

To join Charlotte and Outskirts Press in donating books or setting up your own Little Free Library, visit http://www.littlefreelibrary.org/ for more information. It’s a great cause during this holiday season (or any season, for that matter).

At Outskirts Press, our authors are what make us special, and Charlotte Endorf is a perfect example of that.  Charlotte, we’re amazed with everything you do. Keep it up!

AUTHOR SUCCESS STORIES

Kathalyn Pokley was born in Highland Park, Michigan, in 1952. She was raised in Alpena, Michigan, the majority of her life.
When an opportunity arose to attend Ferris State University
of Big Rapids, Michigan, she took the chance to leave
the small northern town for a future career in dental
assisting. She has managed several dental offices and
worked in the dental field for 35 years. She is married
to her husband of 32 years and has one son. She currently
makes her home in the Detroit metro area. She has enjoyed
writing, baking and painting as her main hobbies for many
years. This is her first book. Her desire to write this
book came after the tragic loss of her best friend, Sandy.

“My vision for the book turned out exactly as I had
hoped. Everyone was supportive throughout the process.
Answering the many questions that took me through to completion. The final product is getting wonderful acceptance and praise. I would recommend Outskirts Press to any new author who chooses to self publish. The only negative was the initial cost did not really include, for me anyway, the total amount that would be required to finalize my book. Many thanks to Jennifer, Andrea and the coaches for making this a success.”

- Kathalyn Pokley, author ofSaying Good-Bye to Sandy
