Andrew S. Olearchyk, MD graduated from Medical University of Warsaw (1953-61), completed rotating internship (1961-62) at the Сity Hospital in Starachowice, training with certification for the 1st degree specialization in anesthesiology (1962-64) and general surgery (1962-65) at the City Hospital in Starachowice and at the Voi. Hospital in Kielce, Poland. He became a US citizen on Sep. 20, 1972. Dr. Olearchyk completed his rotating internship at Memorial Hospital (1967-68) in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, residency in general surgery (1968-73) at Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, and at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, and residency in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery (TCVS, 1980-82) at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (PA).

Andrew Olearchyk, MD is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in PA (1970-2010), Ohio (OH, 1974-77), North Carolina (1977-80) and New Jersey (NJ, 1978-present). Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery (1976-87) and the American Board of Thoracic (and Cardiac) Surgery (1983-2023), practiced general surgery in Philadelphia (1973-74), Dayton, OH (1974-77), TCVS – in NJ and Philadelphia (1982-2007). Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (1984 – present) and Honorary Member of the Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons of Ukraine (1996 – present).

He wrote 213 publications, including papers, monographs and books and contributed to the knowledge of general surgery, urology, anesthesiology, TCVS. He also introduced his own techniques or its modifications into cardiac and vascular surgery.

He is married to Renata M. Sharan, who is an Ukrainian-American sociologist. Their children are Christina, Roman and Adrian.

Andrew Olearchyk, MD  enjoys vegetarian food, running 5 miles once or twice a week, swimming and skiing.
