Inc 500 names Outskirts Press fastest-growing self-publishing company

Inc Magazine released their annual Inc 500 list of the nation’s fastest-growing businesses on Wednesday, August 12.   One self-publishing company, categorized in the Consumer Products & Services category, made the top 500 — Outskirts Press.

The annual ranking is based upon the rate of each company’s revenue growth from 2005 through 2008.  In that span of time, Outskirts Press grew at a rate of 850.5%, making it the fastest growing self-publishing and book marketing company and #268 overall.  Outskirts Press is the 21st fastest-growing business in the Consumer Products & Services category.

“As an Inc. 500 honoree, Outskirts Press shares a prestigious pedigree with such notable alumni as Intuit, GoDaddy, Under Armour, Jamba Juice, Timberland, Clif Bar, Microsoft, Patagonia, American Apparel, Oracle, and scores of other powerhouses,” according to Jane Berentson, Inc. Magazine’s editor.

This announcement comes on the heels of the Denver Business Journal finding Outskirts Press to be the 7th fastest-growing privately held company in Denver within the small-to-medium category.

With mainstream writers like Stephen Covey recently going the self-publishing route, self-publishing continues its ascent toward the preferred publishing method. In fact, last year the sales of self-publishing books climbed 132% while the sales of traditionally published books fell by 3%.

What makes Outskirts Press the fastest-growing company in this competitive industry?

Perhaps it is due to the talent and success of its 4500+ authors, like Gang Chen, who recently earned over $100,000 in royalties from Outskirts Press for just 6 months of book sales.

Or perhaps it is the unique and exclusive promotional services and products only offered by Outskirts Press, like the recently announced custom first-class postage stamps featuring Outskirts Press books.

Or perhaps it is because more and more authors are realizing that in order to successfully publish, print, and market a self published book, they are best served by a full-service self-publishing company that provides support and guidance before, during, and after publication.
